It’s a Girl

Last night, about 7:30pm I became an uncle again.

My new niece was 6lbs 12oz and 19 3/4″ long.

No name as of this writing.

One very cool thing, yesterday, July 26th, is my Grandmother’s birthday. A great grandchild makes a nice birthday present.

No pics yet, but I will post them when I get some.

Sirius Success

I’m sure you all read about the recent loss of my Sirius Sportster radio.

So a couple days ago I called Sirius to try and get my website login. They were running a discount for current subscribers. The Service Rep was helpful, explained to me that the discount was only for second recievers. I explained my situation to him, and he sent me to another rep who gave me a discount on a new Sportster 4.

I was pleasantly surprised at both the helpfulness of their representatives, and the discount I received.

Happy Birthday to Me

OK, so this is it. As of this morning I am no longer in the 18-34 demographic. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, I am the ripe old age of 35.

Feel free to send money, gifts, whatever you think is appropriate.

Satellite Radio Thieves

Five years ago, when I bought my car, it needed a sound system. I looked at traditional radio/CD players, but being a vintage ride I didn’t want to hack up the dash to install something like that. My solution? A sirius satellite radio.

Sportster Radio

I had my original reciever for a couple years and then decided to upgrade to the Sporster model. Installed it and purchased and additional kit so I could move it between vehicles. Part of my reasoning when I first purchased the satellite radio was the lack of theft. The reciever was only about $100, plus it won’t work without a subscription, so there isn’t really any reason to steal one. This logic worked great for me, until yesterday.

Radio Gone

I got in my car to head to a meeting and my radio was gone. Some MORON had stolen it out of the car. As I said, this radio is at least two years old, a discontinued model ( I couldn’t even find one for sale on ebay). The thief didn’t take the power supply or antenna so the unit was unusable, plus I suspended the account. Even if it was connected, it won’t ever work – unless I re-enable it on my account.

Basically the thief got away with a WORTHLESS piece of electronics, and I’m going to have to pay $70 for a new radio. Really, this pretty much just an act of vandalism. I almost feel sorry for the thief. The punk kid (I can only assume it was a kid) that stole my radio risked bodily injury and criminal charges to steal something with virtually no value. Why bother? I’ve never really understood the motivations for theft anyway, but theft without any kind of reward is just dumb.

GAA!!! MY EYES!!!

My three year old nephew has a thing about his eyes. Whenever we are in the car and the sun is shining on or near him he will yell “My Eyes!!!”.

Personally, I think this is the funniest thing ever (my sister doesn’t agree), so I have randomly taken to joining in with his “My Eyes!!!” chorus, even when the sun isn’t in his eyes.

The reason I share this is today’s Dilbert…

2007 Easter Jeep Safari

Across the Rocky Mountains and past Grand Junction, just a few miles across the Utah border sits the town of Moab.

Moab is legendary with four wheelers, mountain bikers and hikers alike. With hundreds of amazing trails and fantastic canyonland scenery it is the ultimate destination for anyone interested in off-road activities.

Suburban on the trail
Being short on cash, Jeff just getting started on his XJ project, and my Scout being in a perpetual state of unreadiness, Jason, Jeff and I just hopped in the Suburban and headed down for some sight seeing. We met up with Mike and his friend from Cheyenne, and had a great weekend of trail riding – I have the pictures to prove it.

Special thanks to Mike and T&T Customs for letting us ride along in their Rigs. A good time was had by all.

Fun with Google Maps

Here is a neat trick

  1. go to www.google.com/maps
  2. click on maps.
  3. click on the “get directions”
  4. type “New York, NY” in the first box (the “from” box)
  5. type “Stockholm, Sweden” in the second box (the “to” box)
  6. click on “get directions”
  7. scroll down to step #23
