Anyone else remember this animated musical adventure from 1984? I was 12 years old and remember watching Kidd Video. Pop music, cute girls, workout gear on a fairy, pretty awesome.
Amazingly, not only is Kidd Video not forgotten, but there’s a pretty good website dedicated to the show.

A couple years ago Whiz (Robbie Rist) and Carla (Gabriele Rozzi) got together for a song
Heard this on an episode of The Killing recently, and thought it was just amazing. So ethereal and interesting.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
“Head Will Roll” (A-Trak Remix) (MP3)
A-Trak’s remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll†has received quite a buildup on the club circuit; food for house-heads and anyone who’s been lit up by Karen O, it’s a crossover track that should soon populate many a dance radio station. Today, it’s blitzing the blogosphere.
The Australian Pink Floyd Show is coming to Denver next week. I had never heard of TAPFS until today, but they look awesome!
The Australian Pink Floyd Show (aka TAPFS) are a Pink Floyd tribute band formed in 1988 in Adelaide, South Australia. Their live shows attempt to recreate the look, feel, and sound of Pink Floyd’s later world tours,[1] achieved by the use of lasers, props, and a large panel similar to “Mr Screen.”
I remember watching PULSE and wishing I could see them live. Sounds like these guys are almost as good.
I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy, but some of the buzz this morning on the season finale is about a cover of “What a Feeling” from the movie Flashdance. This cover was performed by Hollywood, Mon Amour, the new project from Nouvelle Vague producer, Marc Collins.
Visit the Hollywood, Mon Amour Myspace page to listen to the Flashdance cover as well as covers of Eye of the Tiger, Footloose and Prince’s When Doves Cry.
This week I’m sharing the new track from Manchester Orchestra, I’ve Got Friends.
Manchester Orchestra is a band out of Athens Georgia, and this song is from their second LP “Mean Everything to Nothing”
If you watch TV (and don’t fast forward through the commercials with your TIVO), you may have noticed an ad for the Lincoln MKZ featuring a cover of Peter Schilling’s Major Tom.
This excellent cover is performed by Shiny Toy Guns, and is available as a free download! How awesome is that?
If you are interested in more from Shiny Toy Guns, you might check out their latest album.
It’s been a while since I did a Friday Music Pick of the week, but I just haven’t stumbled across anything worthwhile… until now.
Dick Brave & the Backbeats is a band led by German singer-songwriter Sascha Schmitz. In 2003 and 2004 Dick Brave performed live, and recorded an album titled Dick This! The band broke up in November 2004, so this album of covers may be all we ever see from Dick. There are quite a few videos on You Tube of the band, but I picked this one. Avril Lavigne’s Complicated is a favorite of mine.
It’s been almost a year since I posted the Hurra Torpedo videos, and I thought it was time to share another one.
Here is a great video of “All the things she said”
There is also a video of Brittany Spears’ Toxic on You Tube, but the quality is low. If anyone has additional links to Hurra Torpedo videos, please let me know. Doesn’t look like the band is currently active, so we may never get any more from them.
