Back in 2007 I decided to run a test. I replaced several lightbulbs at once, one with an incandescent and six others with CFLs. Since that time, a period of about 4 1/2 years, I have replaced the Incandescent bulb many times (I stopped counting at 4). Conclusion
After 4 1/2 years of testing I feel safe to say that a CFL will last at least 4-5 times as long as an incandescent in my house.
